Sausage and Broccoli Pizza
Thin pizza crust, mild Italian sausage, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic plus seasoning, mozzarella cheese, roasted garlic tomato sauce
This is what happens when pizza crusts come in 2-packs. We had made that delicious chicken and greens pizza and were wondering what on earth kind of pizza to make next. We’d done all kinds, from traditional to downright crazy (looking at you taco pizza). After searching through tons of recipe lists, my fiance decided on sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, and broccoli (a combo of a few pizza ideas we read). It sounds like a random combo of toppings but actually turned out pretty delicious!
My BF was actually the head chef for this pizza. Since he thought of the idea, he wanted to be in charge and cook for me. Plus, he got off work before me that day and we would’ve eaten extra-late if I had cooked. The break was actually nice. My favourite thing about this dish was that he used only a thin, thin layer of sauce. Super-saucy pizzas are messy and take away from the taste of the toppings, plus all the acid sometimes gives me a tummy ache! This pizza had just enough sauce to make the crust a little moist so it didn’t feel like we were eating meat and veggies off a big, dry cracker.
The sausage on this made it a little greasy, but pizza is a greasy food so no real harm there. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the tomatoes but that’s just my taste; my boyfriend loved them and even took some of mine when I was tired of them! This was a unique meal made even better because it was made for me by my love!
