Green bell pepper, chicken breast, sweet and sour sauce, pineapple chunks

Since I worked all day last Saturday, it was BF’s turn to cook our entire dinner on his own. I thought this easy crockpot recipe with just a few ingredients would be a fool-proof dish for him to make. I underestimated him.
To be fair, it’s partially my fault for putting a can of pears and a can of pineapple right next to each other in the pantry. About halfway through my work day, my phone buzzed with a frantic text from my boyfriend: he’d accidentally emptied the pear juice into the crockpot instead of the pineapple! We both feared how this would affect the very signature flavour of sweet and sour chicken, especially after I told him to also add the pineapple juice. Luckily, it tasted just right, no weird pear-y taste at all. We also couldn’t figure out why the chicken shredded instead of staying in chunks. Oh well!
We all make mistakes in the kitchen and he’s still learning. The dinner still turned out tasty and I was so so appreciative that I didn’t have to cook after 8 tough hours of work. I have the best partner in the world, even if he is sometimes a goof!
